I had to attend a company-wide meeting with my boss recently who kept spouting nonsense business words at all of us like we’re supposed to give a fuck about “labor absorption” so this reblog spree was an attempt to harm him with psychic energy
insane clown posse man was at midwest fur fest in a fucking juggalo fursuit oh my god
Hey so listen,
I don’t like making fun of furries to begin with, especially since they’re not all as bad as a lot of people make them out to be. But definitely, don’t lean on the horn with Violent J.
If you don’t know, Violent J is the leader of Insane Clown Posse. His daughter is a furry. Despite his notoriety, J isn’t rich at all. So you can imagine when his daughter ordered a fur suit and essentially got scammed (which, by the way, as someone who makes stuffed animals from time to time and alters clothes here and there– faux fur is pretty expensive if it’s the good kind. An entire suit out of the shit is a whole ass arm) they were pissed.
So gawk if you want, but just know, Violent J is a supportive dad and I gotta give my props to him. I know I wish my guardian or mom would’ve gotten at least a bit interested when I went to my first anime con. It’s good to see he’s standing behind her like this.
also his suit’s name is Kung Fu Joe and that’s fuckin great
fr anyone who reblogged this being mean will die tonight
If a girl feels uncomfortable hanging out with you alone, and you get so offended by that, it makes you angry, she probably made the right choice.
I know I’ve reblogged this recently but still so spot the fuck on.
In general if a dude gets angry by you declining an invitation you made the right choice to say no
If they get angry when you say “no” to hanging out with them, what else are they going to get angry about you saying “no” to?
^^ Slight side note:
When I was online dating I used to do what so many of us do; set up a safety check with a friend. I used to be really slick about it; take a restroom break or quietly/subtle check and answer a text. Then I realized what a good marker it was to check if I wanted to actually be on this date at all. So at whatever time check in was supposed to be, I would pull out my phone and say “sorry, I just have to let my friend know I’m good”. If someone was vaguely offended, I might stay depending on the convo we had after. If someone was SUPER offended, I said “this is exactly why. Thanks for meeting me, I’ve got to go.” This happened three times I can remember and the first time my voice was shaking so bad as I said it because, you know. You never know what their response is going to be and he was so aggressively angry I was ending the date “over that”.
The person I ended up with? “Ah, yay-I’m-not-murdered check. Good plan.” Then when my phone was buzzing later (because we ended up on a five hour date on a Monday night) he goes “you should probably let them know you’re still alive. Do you have to go?”
*No woman I was ever on a date with was mad about this. Not one.
This is just like testing the breaks before driving an unfamiliar car guys, and you do NOT drive a car with no breaks. If they can’t handle “no,” it’s not safe for you to say, “yes,” and you need to gtfo of there so you don’t get run over.
Also, OP I love your url, it is perfect for this post.
Context: You are an exchange student from a different country and you meet Jacob one day while picking Bella up from school. He seems to be really into but there seems to be some communication errors.
A few weeks went by and
you were able to understand more than you thought. The English language wasn’t a
very difficult one and the Rosetta Stone that your parents had bought you was
really helping you a lot. You could make out full sentences and speak full
sentences as well. Talking with Bella became easier and since Charlie was a man
of few words, the conversations weren’t that bad.
“Jacob is coming by
today to look at my truck.” Bella said. You understood every word.
“Okay.” You said
excitedly. You hadn’t seen him since the last time he was here but you thought
about him almost every day.
A few hours later, there
was a knock on the front door. You jumped up to get it only to see that Charlie
had beaten you there. Him and Jacobs father were going fishing and Jacob was to
spend the day with you and Bella.
“Hey Charlie.” Jacob
said before waving at you. “Hey Y/N.”
You shyly waved at him
and blushed, looking down at your feet. He had cut his hair and looked a little
bit more toned.
Bella came around the
corner and hugged him, waving at Billy from the steps and ushering her father
out to go fishing.
You joined Jacob and
Bella outside while she explained what was wrong with her car. A lot of it got
complicated to understand but you knew the basics.
Bella went back inside
to finish making lunch for everyone and you decided to help Jacob.
“I heard you learned a
bit more English. Are you able to understand what I am saying?” He asked.
It took you a minute but
you could respond to him. “Yes. It still difficult but understanding more every
day.”
You smiled at him and he
motioned you closer to him. He was currently working on Bella’s car; hood
popped and tools scattered all over the place. He took your hand and pulled you
in front of him. With your hand in his, he pointed with it at different parts,
enunciating the word and then having you repeat it. His other arm was snaked
around your waist and you felt butterflies in your tummy.
He kept that up until he
had a tool in your hand and you were helping him with fixing Bella’s truck. His
and your hands were covered in filth, but he never left your side. He smeared
his thumb across your cheek and laughed so you smeared yours across his
forehead and said “Simba” and broke into a fit of giggles when he gave you a
weird look. You were so engrossed in what was going on that you hadn’t noticed
that Bella had come out and was watching the both of you. She coughed and
startled the both of you, but Jacob didn’t move an inch away from you.
“Lunch has been ready
for a while now. Go get clean.” She said, ushering you both inside. You couldn’t
help but giggle. You all ate and laughed at stupid things and you were taught a
few more words before Bella decided to work on her homework. You sat on the
couch and Jacob finished up on Bella’s car. After he was done, he came back
inside and sat really close to you.
“Can I see your hand?”
He asked, pointing at it. You handed it to him and he dropped something in it.
A seashell. “It’s from the beach on the reservation.”
You smiled and held it
close to your heart. “Thank you. I will cherish.” You leaned your head onto his
shoulder and smiled at the way his breath caught in his throat. Bella was
watching from the corner of her eye with a smile on her face.
“You guys are so cute.”
She said. You made a face and blushed, covering it with your hands. Jacob let
out a laugh and pulled your hands away to get a closer look at you. He never
let go of your hand for the rest of the night. By eight thirty, his dad and
Charlie had gotten back home and Billy was ready to go home.
You walked with Jacob to
his truck, hand still in his. He pulled you into a big hug, tightening his hold
without hurting you. “I’ll miss you.” He said.
“I will miss you too.”
You said as best as you could. He pulled back and leaned down to kiss you,
lightly brushing against them as if asking for permission. You didn’t hesitate
to close the distance, standing up on your tip toes to help. His arms were
wrapped around you and the fireflies were out to play. After you both broke the
kiss, Jacob hugged you again before kissing you one last time and getting into
his truck.
“See you soon,
beautiful.”
You watched as his truck
disappeared into the distance, a smile plastered on your face.

Request:Anon - Could you do one where
you’re new in forks and Jacob imprints on you while picking up Bella at school
only to learn you can’t speak English..? Also you’re like in my top 5 favorite
blogs rn tbh
Warnings: None
You hadn’t been in Forks
for very long; your plane landed only a few days earlier, but you were excited
nonetheless. Bella and her father had taken you in as an exchange student and
being from a different country made communication a bit harder for you then you
expected. But Bella was patient and helped you understand certain things while
you also taught her how to speak your native tongue.
Charlie would talk with
his hands more which you picked up almost immediately. You were used to it.
Tourist would come by you all the time and ask you questions and their hands
was what helped them communicate. Bella was a bit more difficult. She used her
laptop and a notepad to help her communicate, which was great because you also
used those items to help her too. She learned a bit faster than Charlie did.
It was a Tuesday, and
you were sitting on the sofa watching the television, trying to make out some
of the words you had heard from Bella and Charlie. It was starting to come to
you little by little and it was making you feel like a different person in a
good way. Charlie had the day off and he too watched tv. The house phone rang
and you watched as Charlie answered it, speaking a little too fast for you to
understand the words. When he came back he smiled.
“Bella,” he paused. “needs
to be picked up,” he said, motioning a picking up of an object and driving a
car. “from school.”
It took you a minute to
understand what he was saying but you got it nonetheless. “Okay.” You said, your
accent was thick.
“Would you like to go
with me?” Charlie asked motioning again.
This time you understood
what he was saying because Bella would always ask you to go with her to the
store. “Okay.” You said again, nodding.
You and Charlie hopped
into his cruiser and took off down the road. It had been a weird feeling,
sitting on the opposite side of the car but it was definitely a great
experience. Before long, you were sitting in front of a very large building
which you took to be a school. It looked a bit more industrial and prison like
than you expected.
Charlie said something
that you didn’t quite catch and then left the car to go and talk to some
people. You also jumped out of the car and leaned against the cruiser, waiting.
You saw Bella in the distance, talking to a very tanned and handsome guy. He
seemed to be really into her and you thought for a moment that they were
dating, but she had told you about her crush, Edward, and you didn’t think that
was him.
Charlie walked up to you
and you pointed at Bella. She saw you both and waved, so you waved back. As
soon as the guy looked up at you, he stopped walking. Weird. You looked down at
yourself and made a mental assessment of what you were wearing and figured you
looked normal; Rainboots that you brought with you from your home country, a
rain jacket and a sweater. Your black leggings were hardly visible, and your
hair was up in a messy bun that you checked twice before you left the house. You
looked back up to see that Bella was pulling him along and you felt a little
uncomfortable for the first time since arriving.
“Jacob, nice to see you
again. How’s your dad?” Charlie asked.
You picked up that his
name was Jacob and that’s as far as it went. You got lost in a sea of English and
didn’t know where to begin. You could only make out a few words here and there
but there was no way that any of them in a sentence made sense.
“Hey, I’m Jacob. I heard
you were staying with Bella and Charlie from another country. That’s pretty
cool.” Jacob said.
You looked at him, with
a tilted head like you weren’t sure if he just introduced himself or he was
talking about himself. He had said his name so you took it as he introduced
himself.
“Hello, my name Y/N.”
you said smiling at him.
Bella started talking to
Jacob and that’s when his eyes widened and he looked embarrassed.
“I’m sorry.” He said.
You knew what that
meant. “It’s okay.” You said, smiling again. He was handsome, especially with
his cheeks all red and his hair falling over his shoulders.
Everyone said goodbye
and you got back into the cruiser. When you arrived back at Bella’s, she
started about making dinner. Her laptop was open so you started to translate
your thoughts for her.
“Bella.” You called to
her. She turned to see that you had translated some stuff for her and she read
it out loud.
“Why did Jacob stop to
walk when he noticed me?” She read aloud. She looked at you a bit puzzled but
shrugged. She translated a few sentences for you and went back to cooking.
I’m not sure. He stood there like he had seen a
firework.
A firework? You wrinkled
your nose at how terrible the translation was but it wasn’t Bella’s fault. She
probably meant like he had seen it in the sky and was in awe.
For the rest of the
night, you and Bella translated words back and forth before you decided you
wanted to go to sleep.
The next day was the
same. You worked on your daily school work from home and watched tv, trying to
understand what was happening. Bella came home from school like usual and helped
with some translating before she went to make some food. The doorbell rang and
she answered it to find Jacob and his dad.
You watched them
converse in the front room before proceeding into the kitchen where Jacob’s dad
handed Bella a brown paper bag. You caught the word “fish” and smiled.
Bella introduced you to
Jacob’s dad before ushering everyone into the living room. Charlie came home
only a few minutes later and the talking was nonstop. You caught Jacob staring
at you a few times before getting up and going outside. You needed some fresh
air before you went crazy from all the talking.
“Hey.” You heard from
behind you. You turned around to see Jacob standing there with a huge grin on
his face.
“Hello.” You said. You weren’t
sure how this conversation was going to pan out but you were ready for it.
“How are you?” He asked.
You knew that he was trying to be considerate of your lack of English and that
made you smile.
“I am good. And you?” He
walked a little closer to you and smiled.
“Good.” He said. “Are
you okay?”
The concern in his voice
helped you to make out the next few words and you nodded with a smile.
“A lot of talk.” You
said, mimicking with your hands people speaking.
He nodded in
understanding. “You like it here?” He asked slowly so you could try to make out
his words. He was using his hands as well to help emphasize what he was saying.
“Yes.” You said smiling.
“Quiet.” You brought your finger to your lips.
He smiled and nodded. “Yeah
it is.”
For the rest of the time
he was there, he helped you pronounce words like “Native American” and “Indian”.
He drew images in the sand and used his hands to mimick people or animals and
it made you laugh and smile. The language barrier between the two of you wasn’t
stopping you from enjoying his presence. There was almost a peace being near
him.
After a while, his
father called for him from the front room that he was ready to go and so Jacob
stood up and looked at you with a sad expression. “See you soon.” He said before
he kissed your cheek and went inside. He waved at you before they left Bella’s
house and you felt the need to see him again.
A/N: This makes me miss my German friend. She was an exchange student and i met her in my chorus class. She was super friendly and fun and i enjoyed writing this because it made me think of her. Also, being Egyptian, i can understand that language barrier and i feel like this was important for me to portray how difficult it can be. Hope you guys like it.
can we have a moment of silence for all the people whose grades are gonna plummet right as school starts because duolingo Korean is coming out in August?
so like okay, I don’t know why I’ve been obsessively thinking about the concept of “gaydar” but I have.
Actually no it’s because a straight family member used the term like “oh I have really great gaydar” and it made me feel really gross and it took me like a full hour to realize why. When heterosexual people say that, it feels like they’re bragging about their ability to clock us, you know? like a straight person is telling me that they can spot us queers at 50 paces and i’m immediately going to be uncomfortable with that, whereas when other queer folks talk about being able to spot each other it’s a tool for survival.
Like here’s the thing right? being able to tell is important sometimes. Here’s an example:
A couple summers ago I was in a very very small town in Nova Scotia, Canada (like 6 buildings small) and I met a woman in the library who was probably a little older than my actual mother. She was there most days using the wifi because she lived across the street in an apartment without internet. We sat at the same table a few times and spoke briefly about life in passing and after a few of these not-talking-about-gay-stuff convos I was pretty sure she was a part of the lgbtq community and I slipped in a casual pronoun re: an ex and she just looked at me, stopped completely and said “oh thank fuck, I thought so.” and instantly started talking about her girlfriend, it was like this huge wave of relief washed over both of us because we were in a small rural town and both hovering in this really queer space and unable to talk about it. Anyway she was really rad and took me to the closest big town to buy me a tim hortons coffee because she found it reprehensible that I had been in canada for more than 3 weeks already and hadn’t ever had it. Almost instantly it was like “oh okay we have this thing in common that other people may not be cool with but we can actually exist and not hide shit without the fear of violence or anger”
but when it’s a straight person they’re pretty much just letting you know that they can spot the fact that you seem “abnormal” to them like great thanks for letting me know.
